ISAT and PSAE TEST RESULTS

DISTRICT 140 STUDENTS ACHIEVE

District 140 is proud of its students and the academic success they make on state tests as well as on daily classroom assignments.

The Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) and the Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) measure the degree to which student achievement meets Illinois learning standard guidelines of what all students should know and be able to do as the result of their public schooling.

ISAT and PSAE results are listed in the charts on the next page.  These results are indicative of the performance of all District 140 students at the noted grade levels on a combination of multiple-choice and extended-response items.

As part of the PSAE, all Juniors are required to take the ACT Test. The scores on the next page include results from all students tested and students who take a college core curriculum.

ILLINOIS STANDARDS ACHIEVEMENT TEST (ISAT)

The tables on the adjoining page show the percentages of student scores in each of four performance levels as defined below.  These levels were established with the help of Illinois educators who teach the grade levels and learning areas tested.  Due to rounding, the sum of the percentages in the four performance levels may not always equal 100.

% Warn     Academic Warning   Student work demonstrates limited knowledge and skills in the subject.  Because of major gaps in learning, students apply knowledge and skills ineffectively.

% Belw      Below Standards     Student work demonstrates basic knowledge and skills in the subject.  However, because of gaps in learning, students apply knowledge and skills in limited ways.

% Meet      Meets Standards     Student work demonstrates proficient knowledge and skills in the subject.  Students effectively apply knowledge and skills to solve problems.

% Excd      Exceeds Standards    Student work demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills in the subject.  Students creatively apply knowledge and skills to solve problems and evaluate the results.
